Robert Blaser Robert B. Blaser Robert Blaine Blaser, a seven- year resident of Shelton, died of pulmonary fibrosis Monday, June 29, at Mason General Hospital. He was 64. He was born May 7, 1934, in Seattle to Robert L. and Ann Blaser. After he graduated from high school in 1952, he joined the Navy to see the world. His love of travel continued and he visited 48 states and nearly 40 countries during the course of his life. Mr. Blaser retired as a lieuten- ant from the Seattle Fire Depart- ment in 1986 after 26 years of service. He had a quiet strength and put great value in honesty, commitment and responsibility to his family and friends, his family said. Even as his illness increas- ingly restricted him, his family said, he never lost his optimism and positive attitude. He was an inspiration to all of them. He enjoyed bird watching, building birdhouses and feeders and working" at his workbenéh." When he could no longer work out in his shop, he began building de- tailed models of historic wooden sailing ships at the dining room table, which he nicknamed “The Shipyard." He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Shelton. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert; sister, Jaque- lyn; and eldest son, Scott. Mr. Blaser is survived by wife Marla Blaser; mother Ann Blaser; son Mark Blaser and his wife Laura; and grandson Bradley Blaser. Also surviving are his wife‘s children and their families: Lau— rie and Van Sperry and John, Emily and Allison; Lissa and Rus King and Sheena, Amber and Nathan; Ray and Lise Pettig‘rew and Chris, Melissa, Julie and Madeline; and Lesley Pettigrew and Takato Imaizumi; to whom Mr. Blaser was a father, friend and, to the grandchildren, “Papa BOb.” A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held at 3 pm.
