Hi Ken: /War'.-A
r r
675 and the cabin next door at 679 Mermaid. My grandfather bought the land between 1922 and 1924
and had the house built in about 1929. We moved in (my parents, sister Jean and I) in summer of
1934. Actually, thafs a lie. Jean was born in 1936. There wasn't room for all of us in 1947 so we had a
carpenter build the cabin for my bedroom and my dad's study. George Schyler I think was his name.
In the pre WWII days, I knew all the people on the street. There weren't a whole lot.
If you are really interested in Mermaid's history, about two years ago I wrote up what I remembered
about the "Avenue" which might cover fm 1934 to 1960.
By the way, my wife and I ran into Connie (one of the best people) at Tillie Gort's on our way into town
on April 11th. Actually, Connie was his second wife, Daagmar was the first but not many people in PG
ever met her. She and John were at Chico State when we lived there in about 1963]

Connie from time to time, here in PG.
I would like to keep a record of our e-mail's over the last week, I have files for each of the homes on
Mermaid, would you tell me the address of your home?
