Velda “Jody" Sage, 41, a resident of Shelton for more than three years, died Satmday, Oct. 14, 1995, in an automobile accident in Shelton. She wasrbprn April 1, 1954, in Al» buquerque, N.M., to Vearl and IVE-1r: jorie (McQueen) Rathbun. She lived in Olympia most of her life. She at» tended North Thurston High School, Olympia. She had been married to Kenneth Berghund. She married Steven J. Sage, Aug. 28, 1990, in Olympia. Mrs. Sage was a data compiler in the state Department of Health. She belonged to the AFL-CIO Union of Washington state employees. She loved gardening and geneal- ogy research Mrs. Sage is survived by her hus- band, Steven J ., Shelton; a daughter, Shannon Lee Vazquez, Olympia; two brothers, Jerry Velte, Grant, Neb., and James Mattheis, Olympia; four sisters, Stella Mattheis and Val- orie Huber, both of Olympia, Verla Rathbun, Shelton, and Patricia Rathbun, Vancouver, Wash; two grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles. She was preceded in death by her parents, Vearl and Marjorie Rath- bun; a sister, Virgina Rathbun; and a brother, Vearl Rathbun Jr. Visitation is 8:30-11 am. Thurs— day, Oct. 19, in Mills and Mills Fli- neral Home, Olympia. A funeral will follow at 1 pm. in Evergreen Christ ian Center, Olympia. Pastor Foster Woods of Evergreen Christian Cen- ter, Olympia, will officiate. Inurn- ment will be in Odd Fellows Memor- ial Park, Tumwater.
