Lake Stevens, now 10-
0, opened its 2016 football State
Playoffs run with a home field
42-10 win over Federal Way on
November 5.
Steady rain probably contrib-
uted to three Viking lost fum-
bles yet Lake’s offense, averaging
48 points per game, managed to
put more than 40 points on the
board for the tenth straight time.
But it was the Viking defense
which merited the highest ac-
colades, stuffing Federal Way’s
potent running offense, turn-
ing back several Eagles’ scoring
threats.
EightdifferentVikings teamed
for 90 tackles (including solo
and assisted tackles): Tristan
Keith (16), Matt Sevao (15),
Seth Roberts (12), Austin Cal-
vin (11), Michael Wilkins (10),
Dylan Hutchinson (10), Jalen
Thibou (9), Zach Kylany (7). All
of the above are linemen or line-
backers except for Thibou who
is a defensive back. Combin-
ing for quarterback sacks were
Sevao and D. Hutchinson with
two each and S. Roberts with
Vikings beat Federal Way 42-10 in play-off opener

Beautiful lamp posts with
hanging flowers and festive ban-
ners are just a few of the many
ideas the city has for its beautifi-
cation plan.
The city’s Community Devel-
opment Department reached
out to residents through boards,
commissions, in person at
Aquafest and online to see what
residents would like to see as far
as bringing a touch of personal-
ity to the streets of Lake Stevens.
People were given three choic-
es when it came to the “look”
they wanted including modern,
natural or eclectic. The natural
look was by far the favorite with
over 61 percent of the vote.
Natural elements such as in-
creasing the urban tree canopy
and adding more elements like
flowers, bushes, grass and natu-
ral rock were top priorities.
