RE: Original house at 230 68.
Dear Carol,
Unfortunately, I can find nothing to support our hope that the house at 220 9th is indeed the original
Trimmer cottage. The maps prior to 1905 do not extend as far as 9or 601 streets, so I am unable
to look at footprints. I can find nothing about a house move or a fire at either location.
In looking atthe tax records (attached) for the two houses, both houses were built in 1888. I
suspect that they may have been built by the same builder, or different builders who were
influenced by whichever one was built first in 1888, or late 1887. If indeed, the 5-year old
Trimmer cottage was moved down the street, then what happened to the original 5-year old cottage
at 220 987
It's still a puzzle. But we need to keep looking.
