Dear President Welch:
My May issue of The Board and Batten has pictures of a glass bottom boat that has been
given to the Society by a William Smith.
I had to chuckle. Does William Smith know that the original businessman who ran a
glass bottom boat enterprise from the original bathhouse complex was named William
Fielding Smith? He was my great uncle.
The picture of the boat you want to restore seems to be in a field somewhere. Will you
tell me where it is located? I would love to see it up close if possible, sometime when I
am down visiting my son in Carmel.
I would appreciate the address if allowed. Enclosed is a self-addressed, stamped envelope
for a reply when you have the time.
Please say hello for me to my friend, Adam Weiland, when you see him.
Good luck with your boat building project.
Sincerely,
Eloy Rogers (Mrs. Burton Rogers)
