As young people they came to the United States and settled in Kansas. They had four children, Thomas, Albert, Alice and Serena. The family settled in Pacific Grove after making re- ligious visits here, According to the tax records, they purchased a lot on lower 19th street in 1885 and lived in either a tent or tiny building. The cur- rent house at 107 19th street was built in late 1889 or early 1890 and be- came their permanent residence. In 1900 they built the house next door at 109 19th street. When their daughter Serena married she lived in the house at 109 19th.
