Matlock resident Gerald L.
“Jerry" Zernicke died Monday,
August 2, of injuries he suffered
in a log truck accident near Bra-
dy, He was 60.
He was born March 14, 1939 in
Shawano, Wisconsin, to Gale Leo-
nard and Beatrice (Krueger) Zer-
nicke.
He served in the Army in Viet-
nam, Alaska and Germany.
He married Judith (Lamb) Zer-
nicke in 1975 in Elma. He was
previously married to Karen
(Delong) Zernicke who preceded
him in death.
Mr. Zernicke was the owner
and operator of Zernicke Truck-
ing. He was a member of the
Washington Contract Loggers As-
sociation and worked in the
trucking industry for most of his
life.
He was preceded in death by
his mother, Beatrice Zernicke,
and brother, Robert Gale Zer-
nicke.
He is survived by his wife, Ju-
dith Zernicke of Matlock; sons
Gerald Zernicke Jr, of Macomb,
Illinois, Jeremy Zernicke of Olym>
pia and Robert Zernicke of Mor-
ris, Illinois; daughters Annette
Thompson of Roseville, Illinois,
Andrea Anderson of Matlock,
Amy Zernicke of Morris, Illinois,
and Amber Pille of Fort Lauder-
dale, Florida; his father, Gale Zer-
nicke of Shawano, Wisconsin; and
eight grandchildren.
A funeral service was held Fri-
day, August 6, at Hope Chapel in
Shelton. Burial will be in Mis-
s'ouri,
