Good Residence
Pacific GI•ove's belated campaign
for the removal of shacks from the
local residential district got into
high gear• this week. The shack at
110 Carmel avenue bas been re-
moved.
Frank Stephenson, local builder,
has purchased the shack at 1.12 Car-
mel avenue, as well as the one just
removed from 110 Carmel avenue. He
is t: king the material from the two
of.them and constructing one good
house, to be -located on the 1.12 Car-
mel avenue site. •~
At V~'ednesday night's meeting of
the city council, a resolutirn was
adopted declaring these two shacks,
as well as the one at 218 Congress
avenue, to be public nuisances and
calling for their repair or removal
within 30 days or the city will raze
them, at the property owners' ex-
pense.
City Manager Erwin Dames de-
clared this week that the proceed-
ings, taken under Pacific Grove's
rer.e~tiv enacted housing law, will
be pushed through, regardless of the
present activity. This will be done
so that the city may obtain jurisdic-
tion to tear down the shacks in the
event that Stephenson does not
make a proper improvement.
