Four residences and three commercial properties were honored last night and three received special "Heritage House" plaques at the annual awards meeting of the Pacific Grove Heritage Society Thursday at the PG Museum of Natural History. ' Kent L. Seavey, local architectural historian, spoke on "The Painters of Pacific Grove," repeating material that he has presented at Robert Down and Forest Grove Elementary Schools during the past year. Every year Seavey gives programs on PO history to elementary schools, with support from the Heritage Society. Two houses received "Heritage House" awards. One is the home of Darlene and John Bilistrom at 605 Pine, southwest corner of 16th in PG. Built in 1906, it has a story behind it. Architects Richard and Henry Chivers, who designed PG's city hall and much else locally, had designed the very similar house at 744 Pine. Laura Prusia then asked them to build another house like it for her. Actually the two houses are not quite alike. The other "Heritage House" plague went to the 1927 storybook cottage-style house at 410 Pine, northeast corner of Ilth, owned by Rick and Holly Oulette. Now a three-unit apartment, it has undergone continual upgrading and a return to the original design over the past several years, including custom-made windows ofthe original design. A "Heritage House" award for a commercial structure was awarded to The Inn at 17 Mile Drive, 981 Lighthouse, southeast corner of 17-Mile-Drive. This 1926 residence was made into an attended care facility some years ago.
