Fourth grade students at Mount Pilchuck Elementary School spent their afternoon making nearly a thousand sandwiches for those in need. “I’ve never made this many sandwiches before,” said Kaden Harris looking around Mount Pilchuck students help the hungry at the stacks of sandwiches piling up around his class- room. The students were both- ered by the fact that extreme poverty and homelessness is experienced by many in their community and with guid- SEE STUDENTS ON page 2 PAM STEVENS Free scoops of ice cream, free car washes and free pro- pane were only a few of the reasons folks were gathered at the new Trestle Station located at the corner of 80th and 20th St. SE in Lake Stevens on Fri- day, June 17. The highly anticipated, full- service convenience center provides a range of services to the Lake Stevens community including gasoline, drive thru coffee bar, car wash, propane fill-up and features over 18,000 square feet of retail space, in- cluding a state of the art neigh- borhood market. “Being born and raised in the Lake Stevens community I hope to add a quick, clean and convenient shopping op- tion with one stop to satisfy any needs and wants,” owner Families from all over Lake Stevens visited the parking lot at County Market on Saturday, June 11 for the annual Health & Safety Fair sponsored by Lake Stevens Fire and the Lake Stevens Police Department. Over 500 people visited 42 booths, including 10 new booths for this year’s event. The booths provided great resources for our communi- ty along with free giveaways and fun activities. Vender booths included local den- tists, pet stores, and insur- ance companies along with Relay for Life, the Cham- ber of Commerce, Lake Ste- vens Lions food truck and many other local businesses.
