man in Hoodsport, died
June 2, 2013.
He was born March
297 1927, in Cush-
ing, Okla., to Lionel
D. and Myrtle M.
Sample. He graduated
from Daniel Webster
High School in Tulsa,
Okla.
He joined the Army
in 1945 and was sta—
tioned at Fort Lewis,
where he met Betty J.
The couple had three
daughters.
He was involved in
NASCAR racing and
had a foreign stock
car. He enjoyed work-
ing on it in his shop.
He built his house at
Lake Cushman in 1987
and served on Mason
County Fire District 18
for two years.
He is survived by his
wife, Betty; daughters
Linda L. Schonewald
(Tom) of Gold Bar; Don-
na M. Crump of Hood—
sport; Debra L. Bailey
(James) of Lynnwood;

Six grandchildren; and
nine great—grandchil-
dren.
