Career Transition and
Placement Center at CL

hen a military member wants
to leave the service, either
through retirement or just
looking for another job, assistance is
tbere to make the transition into civilian
life as smooth as possible. But when
civilians want to retire, change their
career paths or even just change loca-
tions, there is not much help available. In
just a couple of weeks, there will be.
A ribbon cutting ceremony at I p.m.
June 17 will officially open the new
Career Transition and Placement Center
at the China Lake site of the Naval Air
Warfare Center Weapons Division. The
new CTPC is located in the white trailer
directly behind the Training Center.
After the ceremony, China Lakers can
enjoy some refreshments and view the
many services the CTPC will offer.
Some of these services include assis-
tance in preparing SF-I7I s and resumes,
career counseling, skills assessment and
diagnostic assistance, information on
career paths and education oppottunities,
retirement information and counseling,
job clubs, networking and suppott. The
CTPC is also equipped with computers
and software enabling employees 10 tap
inlO electronic bulletin boards listing
Federal job opportunities and lists infor-
mation about jobs in the private sector
nationwide.
"The primary purpose of the CTPC is
to help NAWCWPNS employees take
responsibility for their own careers by
providing them with information and
support," said Marie Duff, an employee
development specialist at China Lake.
The center will be open from I 10 4
p.m. Monday through Friday, except flex
Fridays. On non-payday Fridays, a Cerro
Coso Community College counselor will
be available to help with career deci-
sions, resume writing and education
counseling.
