Pacific Grove. So after disposing of their interests at Edenvale to
Mrs. Hayes Chynoweth they took up their residence here living for
a short time in Monterey. Afterward they built a home on Central
Avenue in this city, where Mr. Tennant died and where Miss
Tennant remained until about a year ago, when she decided to go
to the John Tennant Memorial Home, but later returned to a
cottage next to the homestead, where she was living at the time
of her death. Miss Tennant, although not ostentatious in her
giving, was a woman of large heart and was a friend in need to a
great many people. She was a member of the Episcopal Church
and until the last few years was an energetic worker in St. Marys-
by-the-Sea, contributing largely to the building of both the church
and Parish house. The chief work of her life, however, ws the
founding of the John Tennant Memorial Home on Forest avenue
near the city limits, built in memory of her brother. It is one of
the prettiest places of its kind in California, and her one hope in
life was to see it succeed. Miss Tennants only relatives in this
country are her nephew, F. W. Tennant and his sister, Mrs. Nellie
Flavell, both of this city, and some grand nephews and nieces in
San Jose. Besides considerable property in Pacific Grove, Miss
Tennant had some valuable holdings in San Jose. The funeral will
take place tomorrow morning at 8:45 a.m. at St. Marys-by-the-
Sea. After the funeral services at the church the remains will be
taken on the 10 oclock train to Edenvale, where they will be laid
to rest beside the brother she loved so well. Rev. G.M. Cutting
