Herbert Vonhof Herbert Vonhof, 94, a resident of Shelton for 53 years, died on Jan. 13, 2014, at Mason General Hospital. He was born Feb.‘ 28, 1919, in Brooklyn, N.Y., to Carl Herbert and Florence (Krusa) Vonhof. He was in the Army Air Corps, and was honorably discharged as a major in 1945. Vonhof married Dorothy Wittenberg on Nov. 25, 2000, at St. Edward’s Catholic Church in Shelton. He was previously married to Shirley Abrams and Mary Sydnor (both de- ceased). He was a mechanical and industrial engineer for Simpson Timber Co. in Shelton. He was also a private pilot, Port of Shelton commissioner, presi- dent of Mason County Community Concert As- sociation and president of Shelton Rotary Club. He was involved with Masterworks Choral Ensemble and Faith Lutheran Church, and was treasurer of the Shelton Flight Club. He was a longtime woodworker and furni- ture maker, musician and HAM radio opera— tor. He is survived by wife Dorothy Vonhof of Shelton; sister Ruth . Ericksen of New Hol- land, Pa.; sons Neil Vonhof (Tracy Mills) of Hawaii and John Vonhof (Corinne Bak- er) of Port Orchard; grandson Christopher (Ashley) Vonhof; great- , granddaughters Alexis, Madison and Olivia; nephew John Ericksen; niece Lisa Ericksen; and numerous stepchil- dren. A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. on Jan. 25 at Faith Lutheran Church. It will be of- ficiated by pastor Steve Olson. Inurnment will take place in Brooklyn, N.Y.
