Upcoming Annual Meeting
by Dixie Layne
Writer and playwright Steve Hauk will join the Heritage Society at its
Annual Meeting on February 11, to share the story behind the stories of his
recently published book, Steinbeck:
The Untold Stories.
Hauk will share how he came to collect the
anecdotes and artifacts that led to his writing
this book of short stories about Steinbeck
and his friends. The stories begin with John
Steinbeck as a young boy to an impromptu
high school reunion of friends and the
unnerving consequences of his success and
fame. Hauk will tell us how he wove the odd
pieces of anecdotes, artifacts, and research
he collected over two decades together in
a fashion that enabled him to reveal the
Steinbeck that lived beyond the pages of his
own books.
C. Kline was commissioned to illustrate
Hauk’s book, and he will also share many
of her original colorful illustrations during
his presentation.
