Lake Stevens High School
was selected to receive the
2017 National first place high
school Career Connection
Award, sponsored by Family,
Career and Community Lead-
ers of America (FCCLA).
Career Connection is a peer
education program, created by
FCCLA, designed to teach stu-
dents how to prepare for career
success now and in the future.
The award recognizes chap-
ters that conduct career devel-
opment projects to help young
people link skills for success
in careers, families, and their
communities.
As the national first place
high school, the Lake Stevens
High School FCCLA chapter
will receive a $1,000 award,
presented to them at the 2017
FCCLA National Leadership
Conference, July 2 – 6 in Nash-
ville, Tenn.
“Road to Success” – the
Lake Stevens High School FCCLA wins National Career Connection Project Award
Career Connection project
chosen to link personal inter-
ests and skills to future career
clusters through stressing the
importance of education, lead-
ership, and work experience
to incoming high schoolers as
they complete district gradua-
tion requirements.
The project’s goals and ob-
jectives were to help students
to discover their strengths, tar-
get their career goals, and cre-
ate a future plan for achieving
their goals.
Some of the major activities
completed were:
1. Created and taught seven
different Career Connection
lessons in high school classes.
Lessons focused on career
interest inventories and cor-
responding colleges, resume
writing, interviewing skills,
and making connections with
future employers.
2. Created and presented
Bright lights, screaming fans
and so many celebrities in-
cited the over 15,000 students
in Key Arena to scream, dance
and serve as they enjoyed this
year’s WeDay Seattle on Friday,
April 21.
Students from around the
state earned a ticket to the cov-
eted event co-chaired in Seat-
tle by Seahawks’ Quarterback
Russell Wilson and his wife,
singer and actress Ciara.
Kids from Glenwood and
Elementary School, North
Lake and Lake Stevens Mid-
dle Schools, Cavelero Mid
High School and Lake Stevens
High School had to earn their
ticket through service in their
schools, communities and the
world.
The all-day event hosts kids
who have made a difference in
the world we live in through
volunteering and promotes
the “We” not the “Me” attitude
through speakers and music.

by other athletes including
