[D utlook A Publication of Florida Community College at FCC] celebrates Community College Month during April Most people associate April with Easter, Passover or even the first full month of spring. But dedicated community collegians know it as National Community College Month. The event, established by the American Association of Community Colleges (AACC), was created to recognize the achievements of junior and community colleges as well as draw attention to the needs of these institutions. These goals are reflected in the College’s 1994 theme: “FCC]: Where Learning Never Stops and Futures Never End." The events for Community College Month 1994 will attract community participation but, at the same time, showcase the talents of College staff and students. In addition to College sponsored events, FCC] will also be active in a number of community events throughout the month. Saturday, April 9 The Walk for Multiple Sclerosis (registration begins at a.m., the walk begins at 9 am. ) The Walk for Multiple Sclerosis features a 15K or 5K route. Both start at Nemours Children’s Clinic and wind through San Marco. The event wraps up with a celebra— tion lunch on the river. FCC] participants will also receive a 1994 Community College Month T—shirt (on a first come’first served basis). To make a donation or sign up to walk, contactz. Wilson Center for the Arts, South Campus , 1 p.m. FCC] administrators, College faculty and members of the District Board of Trustees will be on hand to break ground on the Center for the Arts, named for former Board Chairman Nathan Wilson. Friday, April 22 Community College Month T—shirt Day Show your community college spirit by wearing an official FCC] Community College Month 1994 T'shirt! (See box for more information.) Saturday, April 23 FCC] Jazz Festival 4:30 —10:30 p.m., Florida Theatre ]azz recording artist Don Menza will headline the College’s 1994 ]azz Festival. Menza, an internationally recognized saxophonist who has played with the Louie Bellson Band, will take the stage with the FCC] ]azz Ensemble at 9 p.m. Area high school bands will also perform.
