Elizabeth Hansen
Elizabeth (Betty) Hansen, a
50-year resident of Potlatch, died
of complications from surgery on
Saturday, September 5, at Mason
General Hospital. She was 83,
She was born on June 25, 1915
in Tacoma to James and Zoa Mif-
flin.
In 1931, she graduated from
Irene Si Reed High School in
Shelton‘ She married Henry A,
Hansen on September 9, 1938 in
Shelton.
She served in the United
States government, in both Olym-
pia and Portland, Oregon, from
1931 to 1936. She also worked at
Simpson Timber Company from
1936 to 1943, and for ITT Rayoni-
er’s Research Division in Shelton
from 1948 to 1973. ‘
She was a member of the Com-
munity Concert Association and
was past president of the Hood
Canal ParentATeacher Associa-
tion,
Betty loved ballet, classical
music, reading, and beachcomb-
ing at her home in Potlatch.
She is survived by her hus—
band, Henry of Potlatch, and her
son, Joseph Hansen, of Redmond
She is also survived by one grand-
son, Jeff, of Pittsburgh, Pennsyl-
vanial
A family gathering was held at
the family’s home on Sunday,
September 13.
