’9 ‘7 Leonore Callanan Life-long Shelton resident Leo- nore S. Callanan died of natural causes on Sunday, February 12. She was 91 years old. Born here on April 15, 1897, Mrs. Callanan was the last surviv- ing granddaughter of city founder, David Shelton. She graduated from Shelton High School in 1915. Much of her youth was devoted to professional music performance and instruction. She married Dr. Lewis E. Calla- nan in 1934 and together they raised three daughters until his death in 1951. Adding to her nurse’s training, Mrs. Callanan secured a teaching certificate and taught for several years in Shelton schools. Surviving Mrs. Callanan are her three daughters, Joyce McNee of Seattle, Gayle Tyas of Shelton and Faye Linn of Post Falls, Idaho; two stepchildren, Thurley Damon of Millbrae, California, and Dr. Dale Callanan of Palo Alto, California; four grandchildren; and six great— grandchildren. At Mrs. Callanan’s request, no funeral service will he held. Arrangements are under the direc- tion of Forest Funeral Home in Olympia.
