Elmer/Wt] Manke Elmer William Manke, 73, of Shelton, died Saturday, January 7. .He was born April 26, 1910 in Selby, South Dakota, and had been a wheat farmer there for a number of years prior to com- ing to the Shelton area in 1934‘ ML Manke was the founder of Manke Lumber Company, where he worked until his semi-retirement 13 years ago. He had worked actively in the logging, lumber and Christ- mas tree businesses and was a member of Saint Edward’s Catholic Church. Survivors are his wife Dorothy; daughters Bernice “Bunny" Orr of Shelton, Arlene Bac of Shelton and Judith Byme of Kennewick; sons Charles, Virgil and Larry Manke of Shelton, James Manke of Tacoma and Ray Manke of Puyallup; brothers Virgil Manke of Anaheim, California, John Manke of Alhambra, Cali- fornia, and Marvin Manke of Selby; sisters Wilda Bray and Evelyn Flynn of Glendale.
