Former longtime Shelton resi-
dent Mittie Bailey Scarlett died of
natural causes Sunday, March
14, at her home in Lacey. She was
100 and had resided in Thurston
County for the past four years,
She was born February 15,
1899 in Jacksonville, Missouri to
Coleman and Nancy Ome (Bates)
Durham.
She married George Scarlett in
1969 in Shelton. He preceded her
in death. Previously, she was
married to Bryan Bailey in 1916
in Jacksonville, Missouri. He also
preceded her in death.
Mrs. Scarlett was a homemak~
er and a member of the Senior
Services Center STARS program
in Olympia. She attended the
Baptist Church in Olympia.
She enjoyed singing, music,
helping children and loved cook-
mg.
She is survived by grandchil-
dren Ron Bailey and Debbie
Wentz, both of Lacey, Wanda
Hoadle and Les Kincade, both of
Spokane, Harriette McInnis of
Medical Lake, Vicki Bailey of We
natchee, Robert Kincade of Arizo»
na, Annie DeLoen of California,
and Pam Balentine of Redmond;
daughter—in—law Eva Bailey of
Apache Junction, Arizona; 22
great-grandchildren and 21 great-
great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held
at p in Friday March 19, at
Hope Chapel 421 West E Street,
Shelton. Burial at Shelton Memo»
rial Park will follow the funeral.
