LeRoy Edwards
LeRoy Edwards, a resident of
Shelton for 45 years, died of can-
cervrelated causes Monday, No-
vember 30, at his home in Shel-
ton. He was 82.
Mr. Edwards was born Sep-
tember 9, 1916, in Tulsa, Oklaho—
ma, to Marion and Sarah
(Morrison) Edwards. He graduat-
ed from Palisade High School in
Palisade, Colorado, in 1934.
He married Bernice Marga-
rette (Godwin) Edwards on Sepv
tember 12, 1936, in Palisade. She
preceded him in death.
He was in the Civilian Conser-
vation Corps in Grand Junction,
Colorado, from 1935 to 1937‘
He worked at the Mason Coun»
ty Creamery and at Rayonier in
Shelton from 1937 to 1942. He
worked as a pipefitter marine inv
structor at Puget Sound Naval
Shipyard in Bremerton from 1943
to 1945. He was maintenance
leadman and plant engineer at
Simpson Timber Company's Insu-
lating Board Plant in Shelton
from 1947 to 1967, and from 1967
to 1980, he worked as a main»
tenance superintendent for Simp-
son at plywood plants in Lyons
and Albany, Oregon,
Mr. Edwards enjoyed wood-
working, gardening, and remodel-
ing and building homes.
He is survived by sons Larry
Edwards and his wife Marian of
Spokane, Jerry Edwards and
Chris Zarana of Federal Way and
Richard Edwards and his wife
Carolyn of Kirkland; brother-in-
law Larry Godwin of Shelton;
grandchildren Kaly Edwards of
Florida, Steve Edwards of Spo-
kane, Karen Edwards of Florida,
John Edwards of Kirkland and
Jennifer Edwards of Kirkland;
four great-grandchildren and nu—
merous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held
at 10 am. Saturday, December 5,
at Hope Chapel, 421 West E
Street, Shelton. lnurnment, set
for a later date, will be at Shelton
Memorial Park
