Ray Mainwaring, 94, died
November 6, 2010, of natural
causes at his home in Mesa,
Ariz.
He was born March 29,
1916 to Leslie and Carrie
(Ekblom) Mainwaring in Se-
attle.
He graduated in 1934
from Renton High School, in
Renton and the Bible Insti-
tute of Los Angeles in 1949.
He married Myra Rens on
August 2, 2003 in Shelton.
He was previously mar-
ried to Irene Lucille Wood,
March 6, 1937, until her
death Sept. 6, 2000.
He was a rural mission-
ary out of the First Baptist
Church in Shelton; pastored
churches in Woodland, Califi,
Seattle and in Kasilof, Clear
and Juneau, Alaska. He was
a founder of Solid Rock Bible
Camp in Soldotna and Alas-
ka radio station KSRM on
the Kenai Peninsula.
He enjoyed playing the
violin and sang, producing
a record album, “The Song
of the Soul Set Free: Songs
sung in Alaska by Ray Main-
waring,” Word Records. He
enjoyed hunting, fishing and
was an ardent gardener.
He is survived by his Wife
Myra Mainwaring of Mesa,
Ariz.; daughter Janice Swan-
son of Bodega Bay, Califi,
Karin Newcomb of Sacra-
mento, Calif. and Susan
Mainwaring of Seattle; son;
Paul Mainwaring of Bothell;
many nieces, nephews, sev-
en grandchildren and seven
great-grandchildren.
His first wife and brothers
Kenneth and Donald preced-
ed him in death.
A service will be held at 4
p.m. on Nov. 20, 2010, at the
Fellowship Square, 35 West
Brown Rd., Mesa, AZ.
