Mrs. Silas Mack'
Funeral services will be held in
the Congregational church tomoi·-

Mack, wife of Silas W. black. Mrs.
Mack passed away Sunday night
at her home, 228 Fil·st Street,
"The heart of her husband doth
safely trust in her·, so that lie shall
have no need of spoil.
"She will do him good und not j
evil all the days of her life.
"Strength and lionoi· are Iici·
' clothing and she s]iall rejoice in
time to coine.
"She looketh well to tile ways
of her household, and eateth not j
the bread of idleness.
"Many daughters have done vii·-
tuously, but thou excellist. them all.
"Favor is deceitful, and beauty
is vain; but a woman that feareth
the Lord, she shall be praised.
"Give her of the fruit of her
hands; and let hei o Kn works
praise her iii the gates."

be aptly applied to the work and
character of Mrs. Mack,
Although she was a member of
the D. A. R., her church work was
haI· primary interest and activity,
She served several t.erms as press-
ident of the Mayflowei Women's '
association and many years as a
teacher in the Sunday school,
Over five weeks ago a stroke cle-
prived her of the Ilse of her limbs.
She passed away following a re-
lapse from the stroke.
At her bedside were her husband,
Silas W. Mack, and four of theii·
five children. The fifth, Dr. Henry
W. Mack, is in Pacific Grove for
the funei·al after driving west from
Richmond, Va.
The others wei·e Mev. S. Franklin
Mack and his sister, Mrs. Cha.lies r
Ebei·hai·dt. who flew out from New
York; Arthur F. Mack, who mo-
toi·ed fi·oni Gloucester,Mass.; and
Wilfred T. Mack, Pacific Grove.
i Also present were Mi·s. Wilfred T.
Ma.ck and Miss Alice Chaniberlain
| of Manchester, New Hampshire,
Mrs. Mack was the daughter of
California pioneers, the late Dr, W.
i P. L. and Helen Winham. She was
i born in Salinas, in 1869. She was
1 the yoUngest of a family of eight. 1
I Only one brother, Fred W. Win-
ham of Salinas, sunlves her. i
She and Silas W. Mack wei·e mai·-
tied in Salinas in 1895. Eight years
later they moved to Pacific Grove.
Int.et·ment will be in the family
plot in El Carmelo cemetery-.
Mrs. Mack's remains may be tak-
en to the Congregational church

lstate --the coffin banked with flow-
ers-·until after the services in the
afternoon.
