this appointment as postmaster of
Granite Falls and is taking the
initiatory degrees under Post—
master Carpenter.
April 6, 1923
The Granite Falls post office
was broken into by burglars early
the previous Saturday morning.
An explosion in the post office
awakened many residents, in—
cluding Postmaster D I. Carpen—
ter and his wife Florence. Mrs.
Carpenter, armed with an aid
.22 caliber revolver, and her
husband with an unloaded rifle,
approached the post office, and
_Mrs. Carpenter fired a few shots
from her gun, which scared oft
the three men engaged
robbery attempt before
gained entrance to the
