Mr. Neighbor was the head of maintenance for Pacific Grove schools. Restoration was commenced in 1963 by the Bennetts who labored for 3 years to render the home habitable. The Brennans continued modernization beginning in 1975. Janet and John Brennan welcome you to their home. The stained glass located throughout the house, including the oval leaded glass window in the front door, came from buildings on the Peninsula. The entry parlour as well as the living and dining rooms were replastered, and lighting systems were replaced with period fixtures. The current family room was once the kitchen. The moulding and wainscoting in this room were removed piece by piece and stripped of 70 years of paint. The old butler's pantry and back porches were converted to the family style kitchen in 1976. The lower bath retains the original water closet, elephant bowl and tub. Three bedrooms, a library and bath are located on the second floor. The library contains a massive window from the old Pacific Grove library. The original ceiling was removed to accommodate the window. Restoration of this room was completed in December, 1984.
