An 11-year-old Hoodspoit boy was
killed Tuesday after a truck struck him ‘Q
while he was bicycling near his home in ‘Q

northeentral Mason County.
Hoodsport, was struck by a pickup
driven by Jerry Whitson, 43, Shelton, at
about 4:45 Tuesday afternoon, the
Washington State Patrol said.

Sean A. Velkov of Hoodsport
died in Shelton on March 29 of inju<
ries related to a traffic accident. He
was 12.
He was born on July 26, 1981 in
Fallbrook, California, to Alan and
Angela (Jones) Velkov. For a while
he lived on a ranch in Montana,
where he enjoyed fishing in a creek
and playing with the farm animals.
He also enjoyed hunting, archery
and playing with his Friends. He
attended Frenchtown Elementary
School and played baseball for a
season.
After moving to Washington, he
attended Hood Canal School,
where he enjoyed playing basket-
ball for the Trojans. While living in
Hoodsport he enjoyed being on the
dock, trapping crabs, fishing and
feeding the sea gulls. He was
involved with the Awanas and
enjoyed riding his bicycle.
He was preceded in death by his
great-grandfather, Clayton West-
cott, and by his uncle, Richard Vel-
kov. Survivors include his parents,
Alan and Angela Velkov ofHoods-
port; his sisters, Krista and Leslie
Ann; his brother Virgel; his mater»
nal grandparents, Wayne and Col-
leen Jones of Huson, Montana; his
paternal grandparents, Robert
Velkov and Delores Taylor of
Hoodsport; his paternal grand—
mother, Margaret Wellander of
Murrietta, California; his great-
grandmothers, Alma Jones of Ohio
and Dorothy Westcott of Florida;
and numerous great-aunts, great-
uncles, aunts, uncles, cousins and
friends.
Memorial services were held
April in the chapel at McComb
