Last weekend, the Naval Air Weapons Station provided the facilities DCeded to host the approximate- ly 550 Arrowmen and adults who camped outdoors and participated in competition, training and fellowship activities. Capt. Charles A. Stevenson, NAWS commanding officer, welcomed the Scouts at opening ceremonies Friday night at the China Lake Auditorium. The Navy color guard presented colors while tbe Center's new National Anthem film played in the background. "It was fantas- tic. Only members of the "Order of the Amy.," can attend a Conclave. To be in the Order, a candidate must be elected by his peers in his troop and be a first-dass scout. This is achieved by having several camping experiences and at least one long-term campout in the wilderness. ''Together in service" was the tbeme for tbe 1995 Conclave. The theme was selected because the Conclave is a time to refresh the bonds of brotherhood in the Order and to begin to move forward in service to their lodges and to scooting. "Order of the Arrow 1995 W4A Sec- tion Conclave," the local Yowlumne Lodge, was the service lodge for this Conclave. According to Winter, Greg Oshel, a senior at Burroughs High School, was in charge ofthe whole thing. "He did a super job of putting it all together," Winter said.
