Family and friends came
to support Lake Stevens’ own
Anita Caffee as she received
the first annual Family Values
Award from the Church of Je-
sus Christ of Latter-day Saints
on Thursday, October 16.
Community members from
both Lake Stevens and Marys-
ville gathered at the Lake Ste-
vens Fire District’s Adminis-
tration Building where both
Caffee and Marysville’s Prak
and Rec Director Jim Ballew
were honored and given the
ceramic statue of a family
gathered together on a couch.
The award is presented to
“members of the community
who have achieved remarkable
things that support families.”
“This is a meeting where we
are honoring t very good peo-
ple in two communities,” The
Church of Jesus Christ of Lat-
ter-Day Saints representative
Steve Lebo said. “We need to
always be mindful of the value
of family within our commu-
nities.”
PAM STEVENS Caffee is a local volunteer
who spends most of her time
serving students within the
Lake Stevens School District.
She started the L’il Hungry
Hearts program, which is a
backback program that en-
sures that students living with-
in the school district have food
on the days that they are not in
school.
Kids get to take home a
backpack full of food so that
they don’t go hungry over the
weekends and holidays.
Caffee got her start here in
Lake Stevens volunteering at
Glenwood Elementary School
where her kids attended. She
always went above and beyond
expectations.
“She was always willing to
take on projects. We loved her
at Glenwood. Every teacher
in the school benefitted from
her,” Glenwood teacher Tam-
my Enders said. “She took Li’l
Hungry Hearts from Glen-
wood to the entire district.”
