Dear Christina:
Your letter of inquiry, dated May 28, 2010, regarding a
plague request for 791 Spruce Ave., was researched by the
Pacific Grove Heritage Society's Research Team. A proposal
was subsequently submitted to the Heritage Society Board of
Directors and approved by the Board.
Tax records indicate that the property was first assessed in
1927 for the original owner John Leslie. The 1926 Sanborn
Map indicated that the lot that your home is on, Block 91
Lots 1 and 3, was empty. Subsequent research indicated that
you home was originally built in 1927, which is one year
beyond our 1926 Sanborn Map cut-off date. The Board
however felt that the original historical integrity appeared to
be maintained and voted to approve you request.
Normal turnaround time for the preparation of a plague is
two to three months depending on the volume of requests
we have. You will be notified when you plague is
ready for pick up.
If you have any questions about the status of your inquiry,
please leave a message for the Research Committee
Chairperson at .
