Concord, Minnesota died
August 16, 2012 in Shelton,
Washington.
Clarence is survived by his wife Donna,
son Charles and his wife Jocelyn,
grandsons Dusty, Landon, Alex, Nick
and Cody and granddaughters Stacey
and Stephanie.
He was preceded in death by his parents
and his son Bill.
Early in his life, Clarence embraced a
passion for service. He. enrolled in the
University of Minnesota and started his
education in Medicine. 1‘
happened to many young men of his
generation, World War 11 created a
different direction and unexpected
opportunities and he left college and
enlisted in the United States Army.
He spent the majority of his active duty
as a Medical Corpsman in the South
Pacific. He concluded his service at the
rank of Master Sergeant.
Most of Clarence’s working life was
spent as an employee of the Hormel
Company, headquartered in Austin,
Minnesota. Clarence worked for Hormel
for 37 years and progressed from
Livestock Buyer, to Plant Manager and
retired as Vice—President of the
Livestock Buying Division.
Clarence and Donna moved to Shelton in
1982. True to his passion for service, he
became a Lay Reader at St. David’s
Episcopal Church and both he and
Donna were active in many church
functions, including volunteering at the
local Food Bank.
Always a salesman, he also had a short,
but successful venture in local real
estate.
The source of a nickname is often rooted
in a life experience. a young man,
Clarence aspired to learn to play the
trombone, an undertaking that created
lots of comments from friends and
family. He was often compared, mostly
