Ella Overby LaMatt of Shelton
died at the Fir Lane Terrace Con-
valescent Center September 5.
She was 93‘
A funeral service was held
Monday at McComb Funeral
Home with Pastor Neil Thompson
officiating.
Mrs‘ LaMatt was born May 9,
1902 in Cooperstown, North Da~
kota, to Christian and Martha
(Johannsen) Overby.
When she was years old the
family of eight moved to Silver-
ton, Oregon, Where two more si-
blings were born.
In 1905 the family moved to a
farm near Somers, Montana. She
went to grade school and started
high school. She did not finish be-
cause of a serious illness in the
family. She had to care for the
family instead.
She married Richard DeVoe in
1926. Their first child, Richard
Lyle, was born late that year, but
he died soon afier birth.
She moved to Grapeview in
1942.
She had lived in Mason County
for the past 54 years, except two
years spent in Walla Walla.
She spent her last two years at
Fir Lane Convalescent Center af-
ter suffering a small strokes
She is survived by two daugh-
ters and two sons-in-law, Phyllis
and Ray Bowlen of Belfair and
Roberta and John Campbell of
Apache Junction, Arizona; 13
grandchildren; 28 great~grand-
children; and five great-great-
grandchildren,
Interment is in Shelton Memo-
rial Park.
