Marvin Fenske
Services will be held Saturday
for Marvin J. Fenske. He died
January 14 at his home in Shelton,
He was 75.
He was born on November 21,
1917 in Hansen Township, Wis-
consin, to Charles and Mary
(Schmidt) Fenske. He attended
school in Wood County, Wisconsin.
He was married in Vesper, Wiscon-
sin, to Grace Leonhardt on June 3,
1939. He was a dairy farmer in
Hansen Township until 1963,
when he and his family moved to
Shelton.

Christmas Tree Company for two
years, as a school custodian for four
years and with the Washington
Department of Natural Rescources
for 11 years After his retirement
he set up a small sawmill and did
custom sawing.
He also raised and sold Christ-
mas trees on his U-cut farm on Clo-
quallum Road. Many people en-
joyed riding through the tree fields
behind his team of draft horses. He
drove his team and wagon in the
1989 Centennial Wagon Train
from Ocean Shores to Olympia,
and in 1990 and 1991 he drove his
team and wagon to the historical
fair at Mary M. Knight School.
He was a member of the board of
the Mason County Fair and sup—
ported the Christmas tree exhibits
and draft horse exhibits. He also
entered the draft horse competi-
tions and shows. He was a volun~
teer fireman for 20 years and a
commissioner for Fire District 13.
He was a member of Mount Olive
Lutheran Church and held various
church offices. He was honored as
Volunteer of the Year in 1992.
He was preceded in death by
three brothers, one sister and one
great—grandson. Survivors include
his wife, Grace E. Fenske of Shel-
ton; his daughter, Mrs. Klaus
(Mary) Hoepfner of Shelton; his
granddaughter, Mrs. Roger (Sha-
ron) Pearson ofShelton; his grand
sons, Rob Daly of Shelton, Steven
Tomfohrde of Minnesota and
Richard Tomfohrde of Minnesota;
his brother, Lavern Fen ske ofWis-
consin Rapids, Wisconsin; two
great-granddaughters; and nu-
merous nieces and nephews.
Pastor James Markus will offici-
ate at memorial services scheduled
to begin at 11 am. on January 23 at
Mount Olive Lutheran Church.
Inurnment will be at Shelton
