VOL 27 NO 4
THE CHINA LAKER
Hewlett-Packard Company
President’s Message by Bob Campbell
December 2022
At our Annual Member Meeting held last month we provided a tour of the new
Exhibit Hall in its current construction stage. A pleasant surprise visit by State
Senator Shannon Grove as the meeting was concluding provided an opportunity to
see the building. She has been a supporter of our efforts to build the Museum. I
thought you might be interested in the evolution of the Museum over the last 30
years that I shared at the meeting. It is amazing how slow our progress has been,
and more amazing is the fact we stuck with it over that timeframe and are actually
making some significant progress!
As you all know, the cost of the Exhibit Hall has increased and was the subject
of our recent funding appeal, which is receiving outstanding response. We are all
encouraged and confident that we will make it an exciting year now. Please keep
your donations coming. Once the Exhibit Hall is judged ready for occupancy (early
next year), we will begin the relocation of exhibits from the Base Museum site. We
hope to be completely moved from the Base site by September 2023. One more
topic. Our annual Dinner Auction and Social Event is scheduled for May 6, 2023.
We have started the planning and are looking for good items to include in the
auction. Please add that date to your calendar.
Thank you for your continued support and encouragement through the years.
Our team wishes you the Best for Christmas and the New Year.
