OR to Harry and Lily
(Johnson) Calkins
on April 4, 1922.
She passed away
on Wednesday,
September 11 th
in Olympia, WA
following a three»
week illness from
complications of a
stroke. Her last residence
was located in Centralia, WA,
but she had spent most of her life
living in the Shelton area.
Beverly graduated from Shelton High School (Reed
HS) in 1940 and married Newton Townsend on
September 6, 1940 who pre-deceased her. Together
they raised 5 children. Her son Martin Townsend also
pre-deceased her. She is survived by her sons Dennis
Townsend of Silver Creek, WA, and Keith Townsend of
Missoula, MT, along with her daughters Lisa Townsend
of Winlock, WA, and Maria Houser of West Linn. OR.
She is also survived by her sister, Olive “Jo” Wentz of
Shelton, WA.
Beverly loved people and entertaining, and was a caring
and active member of the Shelton Seventh-day Adventist
Church for 60 years.
Her memorial and celebration of life will be held on
September 29th at 2 pm. at the Shelton Seventh-day
Adventist Church and will be officiated by Pastors Hal
Gates and Doug Sharp.
