George L. Valley died Friday, De-
cember‘24, at his home after an
extended illness. He was 81.
He was born August 29, 1923
in Olympia to
Chester S. and
Mary Ellen
(Lozier) Valley.
He graduated
from Irene S.
Reed High
Schoolt
Mr. Valley
served in the
US. Navy dur- gs;

II. He entered
the service in fl.
December 1942 George L.
and was dis- Valley
charged in April
1946.
He married Marjorie A. Hele-
nius on August 24, 1946 in Olym-
pia.
He and his partner, Merritt
Eells, established Eells & Valley
Appliance Center in Shelton,
which later became George Valley
Furniture and Appliance. He re-
tired in 1983.
He was a member of the First
Baptist Church, the Skokomish
Grange, American Legion, Shel-
ton-Mason County Chamber of
Commerce and was a charter
member of the Shelton Rotary
Club. He was also one of the gang
that metiat Nita‘s Coffee Shop for
more than 50 years.
For the past 28 years, he trav-
eled to Kodiak, Alaska, to hunt
and spent winters in California.
For all his interests, his main
love was for the Lord and spend-
ing time with his family.
Surviving are wife Marjorie A.
Valley of Shelton; daughters Su-
san Valley Rogers of Fox Island
and Jan K. Valley of Seattle;
granddaughters Monica Criteser,
Angela O’Neill and Karen Dixon
of Portland, Oregon, and Katy
Dixon of Champaign, Illinois;

Grant. Isabel, Benjamin and Hci-
di, all of Portland, Oregon; and

Home in Shelton will be from 8
am. to noon Thursday, December
30. Graveside services will be at
2:30 pm. Thursday, December
30, at Shelton Memorial Park A
memorial service will be held at 2
pm. Friday, December 31, at the
First Baptist Church in Shelton,
Pastors Greg Scandrett and Gary
Schwarz will officiate.
